About The Position

Canora Pharmacy is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Canora, Saskatchewan. This role supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care. The Pharmacy Assistant will greet customers, answer phone calls, assist with prescription entry, labelling, and packaging, and accurately count, measure, and package medications. Responsibilities also include receiving and stocking medication shipments, monitoring inventory, maintaining pharmacy cleanliness, safely disposing of expired medications, performing clerical tasks, assisting with insurance claims and prescription transfers, and supporting daily pharmacy operations.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
• Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry is an asset.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
