About The Position
Pharmasave James Bay #130 is looking for an experienced full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Victoria, British Columbia. The compensation is a starting point and will be determined by the candidate's experience. This role involves supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care, managing prescriptions, inventory, and performing clerical tasks. The store operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with scheduled shifts falling within these hours.
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
- Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
- Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
- Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
- Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
- Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
- Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
- Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
