About The Position

Saskatoon Co-op is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join their team at Martensville Pharmacy #252. This part-time position reports to the Pharmacy Manager and involves assisting with prescription filling, maintaining department appearance, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. The role requires adherence to government regulations and company policies regarding drug control, safekeeping, and sales. The ideal candidate will be service-oriented, motivated, and capable of assisting customers courteously and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Must either be a pharmacy intern registered with the provincial college, or possess a current Pharmacy Assistant Certificate, or possess equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Must be strongly service-oriented and motivated.
  • Must be capable of serving and assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Candidates must be available on mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in filling prescriptions under a pharmacist's supervision.
  • Abide by government regulations and Saskatoon Co-op's policies regarding the control, safekeeping, and sale of drugs, including return and/or disposal of outdated dispensary stock, under a pharmacist's supervision.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain the appearance of the entire department when not occupied with prescription-related activities.
  • Be familiar with all merchandise carried in the department, merchandise normally carried in pharmacies, and be aware of new products pertaining to the pharmaceutical and retail pharmacy industry.
  • Assist with checking and adjusting customer complaints within established policies, deferring to the immediate supervisor as required.
  • Assist with inventory movement (receiving and selling), including ordering prescription (dispensary) pharmaceutical products and "over-the-counter" merchandise, under a pharmacist's supervision.
  • Be aware of and informed about Saskatoon Co-op contracts, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Assist the immediate superior in preparing reports, compiling statistics, and processing invoices, if required.
  • Place claims against suppliers and carriers of Saskatoon Co-op merchandise when required.
  • Be familiar with and assist with current merchandising and signing policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, friendly, and caring service to customers to promote good member/customer relations and sales of department merchandise.
  • Provide information, assistance, and service to customers in a manner that promotes merchandise sales and meets consumer needs, requirements, and expectations.
  • Promote the sale of Co-op label merchandise when appropriate.
  • Assist in the safekeeping of all cash handled in the department when required.
  • Maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
