About The Position

Central Pharmacy Services (CPS) is a division of Loblaw/Shoppers Drug Mart that centrally fills prescriptions for patients and provides other prescription processing services. This role is crucial in supporting Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacists and their teams by handling prescription filling and processing, allowing them to focus on patient care.   • Experience working in a retail pharmacy environment.
  • Pharmacy Technician Diploma from accredited college, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and package medications as per Pharmacy Standards of Practice, ensuring all relevant information and documentation are complete.
  • Accurately enter and maintain appropriate data within the applicable systems.
  • Ensure prescriptions are prioritized correctly by the workflow.
  • Prepare each prescription quickly and accurately.
  • Prepare prescriptions for delivery.
  • Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality.
  • May be required to perform inventory management under the direction and supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Maintain proper storage of medications within the pharmacy.
  • Ensure stock bottles are put away by the established workflow.
  • Put away pharmacy inventory in the appropriate location by the established workflow.
  • Ensure stock rotation is completed and the expired product is removed from the shelf and returned by standard operating procedures.
  • Operate and maintain the prescription automation equipment used to generate and produce weekly compliance packs or vials for client pharmacies.
  • Ensure that the prescription automation equipment has necessary supply of proper accessories (e.g. blister, labels, vials) to prepare the prescriptions.
  • Clean and maintain the prescription automation equipment when necessary to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure adequate stock of pharmacy supplies and materials required for packaging and workflow.
  • Maintain an organized work area, including medication shelves and workstation cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and privacy regulations.
  • Deliver completed prescriptions/products to designated areas according to schedule.
  • Maintain a professional and inclusive work environment.
  • Support a respectful and collaborative team culture with attention to accuracy and patient safety.
