About The Position

Pharmasave #296 is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Sooke, British Columbia. This role involves supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care, managing customer interactions, and handling prescription-related tasks. The Pharmacy Assistant will also be responsible for inventory management, maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy area, and performing various clerical duties. The position requires a basic understanding of medications and a willingness to assist with daily operations.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry is an asset.
• Familiarity with Kroll pharmacy software

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Basic understanding of medications (names, forms, common uses)
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
