About The Position

Chaparral Remedy's Rx is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Calgary, AB. This role supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care, managing prescription processes, inventory, and clerical tasks. The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with regular shifts scheduled within these hours. The position requires 28 hours per week.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of medications (names, forms, common uses).
• Experience with insurance plans (e.g. Alberta Blue Cross) and billing systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry is an asset.
• Familiarity with Kroll pharmacy software

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
