About The Position

Port Perry Remedy's Rx is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Port Perry, Ontario. This role involves supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care, managing prescription entry and packaging, handling inventory, maintaining the pharmacy's cleanliness, and performing various clerical tasks. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to align with operational needs.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
• Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
