About The Position

Join a locally owned and operated store to help deliver health, beauty and convenience services in your community, and keep the customer at the centre of everything you do. This is a part-time technical pharmacy assistant role, welcoming students. Must be available evenings and weekends. Schedule is easily compatible with school schedules. The role is responsible for assisting in the technical aspect of prescription fulfillment, helping with pharmaceutical services as needed, participating in the maintenance and operation of the pharmacy in accordance with pharmacy practice standards, and providing superior, timely, and enjoyable customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Diploma from a recognized Pharmacy Technician course, preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy experience, an asset.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customer promptly and collect prescription information according to standards.
  • Complete tasks in priority order based on the role assigned on the role assignment board.
  • Consult with the pharmacist on all clinical questions.
  • Set realistic customer expectations for wait times.
  • Look up and charge out prescriptions and related items.
  • Ensure customers requiring counselling are directed to the pharmacist.
  • Maintain and control the cash float.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy requirements.
  • Receive new and refill prescriptions according to standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare and submit orders with the exception of controlled drugs and narcotics.
  • Verify third-party online billing and manually manage third-party accounts.
  • Answer the telephone and consult with a pharmacist as needed.
  • Manage incoming faxes according to pharmacy practice standards.
  • Assist the pharmacist in coordinating recalls.
  • Accurately file completed paperwork according to pharmacy practice standards.
  • Participate in the preparation of prescriptions according to company and professional service standards.
  • Enter data for new prescriptions and manage the processing of refill requests.
  • Select medications for prescription fulfillment according to pharmacy practice standards.
  • Count or measure medications, package and label prescriptions efficiently according to pharmacy standards.
  • Accurately enter and maintain required data in the relevant pharmacy systems.
