The Infirmary Unit provides inpatient care with 24-hour nursing coverage in a 13-bed unit and provides medical management for 1400+ inmates. The Pharmacy Assistant supports the medication delivery system at the Montana State Prison to ensure medications are ordered, processed and delivered in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Two years’ experience in a pharmacy or medical office setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a registered Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patients’ records, assists in processing medication orders and tracks delivery of medications from the mail-order pharmacy vendor.
  • Ensure that inmates are transferred to various locations in the system and those discharged from the system have an adequate supply of medication.
  • Reports to the Director of Nursing or designated nursing supervisor and provides administrative support function to same.
