About The Position

Pharmasave #296 is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Sooke, British Columbia. This role involves supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care, managing prescriptions, maintaining inventory, and performing clerical tasks. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of medications and be proficient in pharmacy software and Microsoft Office. The store operates with specific hours from Monday to Sunday, and scheduled shifts will fall within these operating times. Neighbourly Pharmacy is a large and growing network of community pharmacies focused on patient care and accessibility.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of medications (names, forms, common uses)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred
  • Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset
  • Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry is an asset
  • Familiarity with Kroll pharmacy software

Responsibilities

  • Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
  • Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
  • Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
  • Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
  • Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
  • Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
