About The Position

The Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine is seeking a full-time, faculty member (will entertain part-time) of a rank of Assistant / Associate Professor. The candidate will primarily be responsible for teaching and coordinating the Pharmacology course. The successful candidate may also demonstrate expertise in teaching in other areas of basic or clinical science associated with the individual’s specialty area and experience.

Requirements

  • Earned a terminal academic doctoral degree (PharmD, PhD in Pharmacology or related fields, DPM, MD, and DO or equivalent).
  • An official transcript for the highest degree earned and/or the highest clinical degree earned, if different and relevant to the position.
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and basic science faculty
  • Effective teaching skills grounded in a strong knowledge of educational theory and methodology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and problem-solving ability
  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated reliability and dependability
  • Commitment to student learning and well-being
  • Ability to quickly master modern educational technology

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in teaching basic sciences and/or clinical sciences at an accredited graduate or professional college
  • Experience in developing board-style, multiple-choice questions

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and teach the Pharmacology course to Podiatric medical students
  • Potentially coordinate and/or teach in other basic or clinical science courses
  • Mentor students in aspects of the curriculum and in their professional development
  • Provide formative and summative assessment questions
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment
  • Provide service to the College, University, and Profession
  • Participate in interviewing podiatric medical school student candidates
  • Stay current in the scholarship of their discipline and teaching methodology
  • Participate in faculty development activities sponsored by the Department, College, and University
  • Maintain a collegial relationship with all faculty and staff of the College and University
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Basic Biomedical Sciences
