About The Position

The Pharmacist focuses on improving patient care through medication management, patient education, collaboration with healthcare staff, and oversight of pharmaceutical supplies. This PRN role is specifically for vacation coverage, working 8:00 AM–5:00 PM during those periods.

Requirements

• A degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Registered pharmacist in the State of Missouri.
• Experience in coordinating pharmacy programs and in teaching health professional students.
• Ability to develop and coordinate a comprehensive health care program.
• Ability to teach other health providers in all aspects of drug-related patient care.
• Meet academic qualifications to affiliate with educational facilities to train pharmacy students or support staff.
• 10 years experience working in a fast-paced pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Develop a patient profile or drug record including all current and past medications, and any known allergies or contradictions.
• Develop a system for reviewing medications to inform patients of potential side effects, proper usage, and expected reactions.
• Provide specific drug information to other staff members as required or requested.
• Develop a program to assist in monitoring patients on chronic therapy (e.g., diabetes, hypertension) for effectiveness, prescription refills, and compliance. This includes primary screening for stabilized patients and referring to appropriate clinics if issues arise, in collaboration with nurses and physicians.
• Aid in the development and operation of specialty clinics using standard medications (e.g., birth control, V.D.).
• Be involved in special education programs for patients regarding drug types, usage, importance of following directions, and home lab tests.
• Complete Patient Safety Training curriculum.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
