About The Position

The Pharmacist will review and interpret prescription orders, select, dispense, and label medications, and enter prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system. This role involves monitoring inventory levels, notifying the Health Services Administrator (HSA) or COR when items require replenishment, and communicating with inmates about medications, providing appropriate education. All duties must comply with standards of professional pharmacy practice and applicable Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) regulations, ACA standards, and federal/state policies.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in any U.S. state.
  • Must include evidence of qualifications including Pharmacist license, diploma, transcripts, résumé, two reference letters, and a clear NPDB report.
  • Must pass all required security clearances prior to performing work.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment
  • Knowledge of automated systems
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control procedures
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff and inmates
  • Must recognize and document changes in patient condition
  • Must be able to administer medications
