About The Position

Under general direction of the Pharmacy Operations Manager, this position provides professional pharmacy services including the review, preparation, compounding, dispensing, and monitoring of medications for patients, residents, and/or inmates in accordance with state and federal laws, professional standards, and accrediting agency requirements. The role ensures safe and effective medication therapy management, maintains regulatory compliance, oversees pharmacy operations and inventory control, supports sterile compounding activities, and assists with daily workflow coordination and special pharmacy projects.

Requirements

  • Current & valid license to practice pharmacy as issued by Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, pursuant to Sections 4729.01 to 4729.29, inclusive of Ohio Revised Code
  • Must provide own transportation

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient medication profiles for appropriate dosing, duration, drug interactions, adverse effects, duplicate therapies, and safe medication practices; consults with healthcare professionals regarding prescription concerns and formulary alternatives.
  • Interprets, prepares, compounds, labels, and dispenses medications, including sterile and hazardous drug preparations, while ensuring compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards.
  • Inputs and verifies medication orders in computerized systems, interprets laboratory reports for TPN and pharmacokinetic monitoring, prioritizes pharmacy workflow activities, and maintains required pharmacy records and documentation.
  • Operates and troubleshoots pharmacy technology systems including automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) and unit dose machines; resolves discrepancies, verifies medication fills, and serves as an administrator-level ADC user.
  • Orders and monitors pharmaceutical inventory, rotates stock, reviews expiration dates, secures controlled substances and accountable items, assists with inventory audits, and ensures compliance with legal, certifying, and accrediting agency requirements.
