About The Position

Hartford Hospital is actively hiring Pharmacists for our Inpatient Pharmacy Department. We are looking for candidates who are eager to grow in their careers, with a supportive environment that promotes professional development and growth. Hartford Hospital is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals in New England, serving as a Level 1 Trauma Center with cutting-edge treatments. The Pharmacy Department utilizes a decentralized model, embedding pharmacists within medical teams to advise on optimal drug therapy. We also host ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency programs and offer services in oncology infusion, ambulatory care, and a retail/specialty outpatient pharmacy. Pharmacists are responsible for the control, monitoring, and dispensing of medications for all age groups, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness. They also supervise medication preparation by technicians and advise nursing staff on medication administration, promoting rational drug use through drug information and clinical monitoring services.

Requirements

  • Pharm.D. or equivalent
  • Current CT Pharmacist license or eligible within 45 days of hire.

  • Prior pharmacy experience is not required, as the organization is looking to invest in the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functions related to the control, monitoring and dispensing of medications for all age groups of patients according to department procedures and protocols in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.
  • Supervise medication preparation by pharmacy technicians.
  • Advise nursing personnel regarding appropriate medication administration.
  • Promote the rational use of medications via provision of drug information and clinical monitoring services to members of the medical community.
