About The Position

North Alabama Medical Center is a 263-bed facility offering the community’s only open heart surgery site, a complete line of women’s and children’s services, and a complete line of medical and imaging services. We are a Certified Chest Pain center and recognized as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence by the American Heart/American Stroke Association. North Alabama Medical Center’s 24-hour emergency department serves as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama. Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy.
  • Current license with the state Board of Pharmacy.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments.
  • Rapid learning and navigation of multiple pharmacy/clinical software systems.
  • Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand).
  • Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manages drug therapy protocols as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reviews, interprets, and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve drug-related problems.
  • Provides drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, patients, and pharmacy students.
  • Documents interventions and outcomes for drug therapy quality improvement.
  • Verifies medication orders for accuracy/completeness prior to entry; checks filled medications prepared by technicians; maintains proficiency with pharmacy automated systems and software.
  • Manages patients in an outpatient anticoagulation clinic, including point-of-care testing, result evaluation, dosing, and scheduling.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required continuing education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
