Pharmacist - PRN
About The Position
The Pharmacist assures the appropriate selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medication orders. The role reviews and assesses orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems, recommends formulary alternatives when appropriate, and compounds and dispenses medications for accurate delivery to patients. The Pharmacist provides drug information and education to medical staff and patients, communicates with physicians and other clinicians to facilitate care, and provides patient counseling when required. The position also oversees technical personnel who assist with preparing, maintaining, and dispensing medications and supplies; may serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students; and may float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs. This is a PRN position with a rotating schedule at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. Benefits are available for eligible positions only.
Requirements
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP).
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy.
Responsibilities

- Assist with academic functions, such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
- Float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs when needed.
- Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.
