About The Position

This position serves as a clinical hospital pharmacist responsible for the safe preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications within a healthcare facility. The role ensures compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, accrediting agency standards, and institutional policies. The pharmacist applies professional judgment to review medication orders, compound sterile and non-sterile preparations, monitor patient medication therapy, and maintain medication inventory and security. In addition, the position provides clinical consultation to healthcare staff, oversees pharmacy technicians, and supports the operational workflow of the pharmacy through the use of pharmaceutical software and automated medication systems.

Requirements

  • Current & valid license to practice pharmacy as issued by Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, pursuant to Sections 4729.01 to 4729.29, inclusive of Ohio Revised Code

Responsibilities

  • Dispense and Prepare Medications: Interprets prescriptions and medication orders; prepares, compounds, labels, and dispenses medications in accordance with pharmacy law and professional standards, including sterile and non-sterile preparations.
  • Conduct Clinical Medication Reviews: Reviews patient medication profiles to ensure safe and effective drug therapy; evaluates potential drug interactions, dosage accuracy, duplicate therapies, and appropriate treatment duration; consults with clinicians when concerns arise.
  • Manage Sterile Compounding and Specialized Therapies: Compounds sterile products including IV medications and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN); applies sterile technique, pharmacokinetics knowledge, and lab report interpretation to support patient treatment.
  • Oversee Pharmacy Operations and Staff: Acts as lead worker over pharmacy technicians by verifying work, providing guidance, and ensuring pharmacy workflow and medication distribution systems operate efficiently.
  • Maintain Medication Inventory and Security: Orders pharmaceuticals and supplies, monitors expiration dates, rotates stock, manages controlled substance accountability, and ensures secure storage and inventory control of medications and related supplies.
  • Manage Automatic Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs): Including picking, verifying, filling ADCs in addition to supporting staff in trouble shooting, and resolving discrepancies within the ADC.
