About The Position

The Clinic Pharmacist is responsible for accurately interpreting and dispensing prescription medications to David Raines Community Health Center patients and provides information and advice to patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage. DRCHC exists to provide quality, accessible, affordable and comprehensive health care services to all. We have six center locations and twelve school based facilities in five cities throughout Northwest Louisiana and corporate headquarters in Shreveport. DRCHC has a licensed patient pharmacy and a state approved Medicaid application center. We even offer transportation for medical and dental appointments. Our staff work as a team to ensure the mission, vision and purpose of DRCHC is achieved daily.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy required.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a pharmacist or in a pharmaceutical environment.
Prior exposure to insurance billing procedures required.
Must demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent written and verbal skills necessary.
Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft software packages required.
Must be flexible to work at any pharmacy on any given day.
The incumbent must posses the current State of Louisiana License in Pharmacy.
BLS (American Heart Association)

Nice To Haves

Experience with electronic health records preferred, preferably NextGen or similar EHS.

Responsibilities

Maintains all records and reports required under pharmacy agreement, Section 340B.
Maintains eligible patient drug utilization reviews.
Maintains formulary maintenance, including providing drug related information services to Health Center personnel.
Identifies and disposes of expired medications.
Maintains eligible patient Drug profiles.
Accurately interprets prescription orders and fills the order, following standard protocols for accuracy. Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy.
Provides information and advises patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
Advises customers on the selection of medication brands and health-care supplies.
Supervises subordinate pharmacy staff involved in dispensing medication and providing clinical pharmacy services such as patient education and counseling, drug use reviews and pharmaceutical consultations.
Orders pharmaceutical supplies and medications, maintain stock and manage it properly. Returns outdated merchandise and recalled items.
Maintains records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for narcotics and controlled drugs.
Analyzes prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
Communicates with insurance carriers and obtains authorization for prescription claims when applicable.
