About The Position

Pharmacists dispense medications to patients and counsel patients on using medications safely at the Crossings Community Clinic (CCC or Clinic) Midtown location. In the absence of the pharmacist-in-charge (PIC), the pharmacist serves as the PIC of the pharmacy and is responsible for opening and closing the pharmacy. Typically, this position will work approximately 12-14 hours per week. Actual days and hours of work are subject to Clinic needs or special events, which may require schedule flexibility including days and hours beyond or different from a typical work week.

Requirements

  • A bachelors or doctoral degree.
  • A current license in good standing with the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications to patients which includes interpreting prescriber orders, entering order in pharmacy software, counting and labeling medications, and counseling patients on medication use.
  • Refill medications when patients request refills by calling the refill line or requesting in person.
  • Send refill requests to providers when patients are out of refills.
  • Monitor drug therapies and consulting with prescribers when needed.
  • Print pharmacy profiles for prescriber to use for patient appointments.
  • Advise providers of medication availability and look for alternatives when appropriate.
  • Assist with monitoring of drug inventories and supplies, and notify Pharmacy Director when medications and supplies need to be ordered.
  • Check in orders and verify invoices. Enter medications into pharmacy software for inventory control.
  • Check medications for expiration dates, pull outdated medications, and remove outdated medications from pharmacy software for inventory control.
  • Assist with maintaining records for medication destruction.
  • Complete projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Assist with maintaining pharmacy formulary, making changes when needed due to cost or availability of medications.
  • Assist with inventory of all medications at the end of fiscal year or as requested.
  • Assist with training new pharmacy volunteers.
  • Assist with oversight of Patient Assistance Program: Work with a PAP clerk to assure proper medications are ordered. Check in medications when received, complete label and record in PAP software.
  • Assist in maintaining the highest possible clinic standards and professional ethics in accordance with the goals, Purpose Statement, and Core Values of Crossings Community Clinic.
  • Support the leadership of CCC, contributing to the spirit of unity among the staff and patients.
  • Represent the Clinic in civic and clinic-related efforts as approved.
  • Complete any other duties or tasks to accomplish responsibilities associated with this position or as may be needed or assigned to fulfill the needs, mission and goals of the Clinic.
