About The Position

ChristianaCare is recruiting a Pharmacist for its Wilmington Hospital Retail Pharmacy. Weekend rotation coverage at the Christiana Hospital retail store is required. The Pharmacist dispenses medications and provides pharmaceutical care based on valid orders from authorized healthcare providers. The role evaluates medication needs, ensures prescription accuracy, and provides drug-related guidance to medical personnel while contributing to effective pharmacy operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
• Current licensure in the state of Delaware or eligibility to reciprocate.

Nice To Haves

• PharmD.
• Previous community pharmacy supervisory or managerial experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cost control and compliance with budget and formulary guidelines.
• Resolve customer service issues in alignment with ChristianaCare’s core values.
• Review and verify prescription accuracy.
• Promote over-the-counter products and medical equipment.
• Supervise and schedule pharmacy staff.
• Maintain drug inventory and ensure timely turnover.
• Encourage the use of generic and preferred formulary options.
• Interpret and verify medication orders for safety and accuracy.
• Maintain patient medication records according to regulatory and policy standards.
• Provide drug information and consult with healthcare professionals.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure quality of work.
• Coordinate resources to deliver efficient and cost-effective care.
• Prepare compounded and sterile medications using aseptic techniques.
• Support training programs for interns, residents, and technicians.
• Participate in departmental committees and quality improvement initiatives.
• Recommend process improvements and contribute to operational excellence.
