The full-time overnight pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling, and teaching. This role involves interpreting medication orders, reviewing drug therapies for potential issues, and assessing age-specific data. The pharmacist will also contact physicians to clarify orders, provide clinical consultation, and manage hospital formulary to minimize non-formulary procurements. Maintaining knowledge of relevant pharmacy laws and regulations is crucial. The pharmacist will supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel, verify dispensing accuracy, and oversee pharmacy operations in the absence of a supervisor. This position requires independent work, effective organization and prioritization, and timely provision of pharmacy services. Accurate dispensing of medications and preparation of sterile admixtures, including chemotherapy and TPN, are key responsibilities. Maintaining controlled substance records is also required.
