About The Position

The pharmacy department plays an integral role in the healthcare team at East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC). A pharmacist ensures the safe and effective use of medication by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection, dosage regimen design, effective administration and drug therapy monitoring services. The pharmacist facilitates the medication reconciliation process and works closely within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best care is provided. The pharmacist accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current EAMC policies and procedures. The pharmacist is responsible for leading efforts in the prevention and reporting of medication errors and adverse drug reactions according to policy and works to continuously improve process and practice in the institution to enhance safety of medication therapy. Staff pharmacists must maintain competence in all aspects of current clean room operations, aseptic techniques, and pharmacy standards including the safe handling of hazardous medications (USP <795>, <797>, <800>).

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of pharmacy
  • Active and clear Registered Pharmacist license and Controlled Substance Permit from the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy
  • BLS within 90 DOH/Transfer
  • ACLS within 90 DOH/Transfer

  • PharmD
  • PGY-1/ PGY-2 Residency Completion
  • 3-5 years of inpatient hospital pharmacy practice
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other applicable certification
