About The Position
The Pharmacist assures appropriate selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medication orders. The role reviews and assesses orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems, and recommends formulary alternatives when appropriate. The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses medications for accurate delivery to patients and provides drug information and education to medical staff and patients. The position communicates with physicians and other clinicians to facilitate care, oversees technical personnel who assist with preparing, maintaining, and dispensing medications and supplies, and may support academic functions such as precepting pharmacy students. The Pharmacist may float to provide coverage for pharmacy needs and provides efficient, effective patient counseling when required. The schedule is variable, and the work location is UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham.
Requirements
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP).
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy.
Responsibilities

- Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.

- Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
- Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
- May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
- Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.
