About The Position

MHC Healthcare is seeking a Per-Diem Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team at the MHC Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 16 sites in Tucson and Pima County. MHC Healthcare is building a world-class integrated health care system that is committed to caring for special populations, and focused on improving health outcomes for our patients. The Pharmacist promotes and restores patients’ health by dispensing medications as prescribed by the health care provider; supervising the day-to-day operation of the Pharmacy area; contributing to long-term planning for the Clinic; directing and developing staff; and providing physical and psychological support for patients. Hours may vary, depending upon clinic needs.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree – Bachelor’s degree; required
  • Current Arizona State Registered Pharmacist (RPh) License; required
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Nice To Haves

  • PharmD; preferred
  • Immunization certification; preferred
  • Bilingual English-Spanish; preferred
  • Experience as a Pharmacist in a Clinical/Hospital setting preferred
  • Immunization certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Dispenses medications as ordered by health care providers.
  • Educates patients on the proper use of medications.
  • Answers questions regarding the medications dispensed.
  • Answers telephone and assists patients’ with questions or concerns in a professional manner.
  • Updates policies and procedures to maintain Pharmacy guidelines.
  • Initiates, coordinates, and enforces programs, and operational and personnel polices and procedures to maintain Pharmacy operations.
  • Identifies patient medication order or prescription processing problems, proposes alternative solutions and therapeutic interchange, implements the resolution chosen, and conducts follow-up.
  • Enforces adherence to State Board of Pharmacy requirements and those of other governing agencies to assure quality of care.
  • Complies with Federal and State statutes, rules, and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy.
  • Collects and collates information used in auditing Controlled Substance Administration Records (Czar’s) to assure legal compliance and identifies deficiencies.
  • Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, follows medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations to protect patients and employees.
  • Maintains patient and company information confidentiality.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies and approving requisitions and cost allocations.
  • Maintains Clinic standards of care by adhering to the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and those of other governing agencies.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
