About The Position
The Pharmacist ensures the overall integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including the following patient groups: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics. The VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion, opening in April 2027, is a new state-of-the-art facility that will bring together surgical services, diagnostics, infusion therapy, pharmacy services, and innovative care models in a single location. This role is crucial in building the future of outpatient care from the ground up.
Requirements
- Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
- Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting.
- Previous experience with state of the art drug distribution and clinical service methods and drug information sources and retrieval and communication methods.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring, screening, and verification of all drug-related orders for assurance of proper dosage, route, dosage form, and administration schedule.
- Ensuring expedited preparation and dispensing of all dosage forms by pharmacy personnel.
- Resolving drug therapy problems.
- Clarifying and correcting problematic drug orders.
- Designating pharmacy technicians to perform special assignments.
- Counseling patients regarding the safe and proper use of their medications.
- Resolving equipment and operational problems.
