About The Position

The Pharmacist is assigned to the UMT pharmacies of the Upper Mattaponi Tribe Health System in Virginia. The Pharmacist ensures access to the safe and effective use of medications.

Requirements

BS/PharmD
Current Virginia pharmacist license
Demonstrate good mathematical and computer skills, able to learn pharmacy operating systems.
Work closely with others. Contribute to maintaining a creative and positive work environment.
Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws related to pharmacy practice.
Applicants are required to authorize a background check and submit to drug testing. Failure to do so will disqualify applicants for consideration for the position.

Nice To Haves

2 years’ Experience Preferred
PGY-1 Residency preferred.

Responsibilities

Process and dispense medications in a local, community-focused pharmacy setting.
Practice in a true pharmaceutical care environment, apply clinical knowledge and skills to improve outcomes.
Monitor patient drug therapies, advising interventions, and inform patients of potential side effects.
Instruct patients how and when to take prescribed medications.
Complete operational requirements of the pharmacy, including verifying order entries, maintaining records of controlled substances, charges, and pharmacy inventory management.
Adhere to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice.
Distribute function assignments and assist in management of pharmacy operations.
Integrate with community healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes and access to care.
Contribute to continuous total quality improvement activities for the pharmacy department.
Assist in the training of pharmacy technicians, peer pharmacists and pharmacy students.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
