About The Position

This PRN, Rotating position in the Pharmacy department at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham involves assuring the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders. The role includes reviewing and assessing medication orders to identify and resolve drug-related problems, recommending formulary alternatives, and compounding and dispensing medications. Additionally, the pharmacist will provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients, communicate with other clinicians, and oversee technical personnel. The position also involves assisting with academic functions, such as precepting pharmacy students, and may require floating to provide coverage. Patient counseling is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

• Currently licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.

Responsibilities

• Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders.
• Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.
• Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compounds and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
• Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
• Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
• May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
• Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.
