About The Position

The Pharmacist will be responsible for quality pharmacy services, collaborating with primary care providers and staff to improve the health of patients. The Pharmacist assures compliance with all regulations of the SC State Board of Pharmacy, and works to achieve the goals, objectives and budget established by CHC’s Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team. Pharmacy services will include dispensing medications, assisting CHC personnel and patients with drug information and identification, developing and sustaining productive patient relationships, evaluating and resolving potential drug therapy problems identified through any and all available resources, patient counseling, prescription verification, adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, precepting students and interns, supervision of pharmacy technicians while on-duty, and participation in projects as assigned. CHC manages patient care using a team-based approach in our interactions with patients and other healthcare personnel.

Requirements

  • Current licensure by South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy
  • PharmD from accredited institution preferred
  • At least two years of retails or community health pharmacy experience preferred
  • Possession of current South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy license
  • Proficient knowledge of Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Reads, speaks, understands, and writes proficiently in English
  • Effectively communicates orally and in writing
  • Relates and interacts with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Represents the organization in a professional and effective manner to the community
  • Supports, motivates, and sustains a team-oriented culture

Responsibilities

  • Assign, coordinate, and oversee pharmacy technicians’ tasks
  • Ensure that all pharmacy technicians are working in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as CHC policies
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosage, directions, drug interactions, and contact the provider if questions arise
  • Counsel patients on drug usage, storage, side effects and drug interactions
  • Assess allergy concerns and communicate to patients and prescribers
  • Process and dispense prescriptions in a timely and efficient manner
  • Bill Third Parties and handle rejections
  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances
  • Remove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory
  • Process recalls according to policy and procedures
  • Oversee daily ordering of medications
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, physicians, and other health care professionals
  • Keep pharmacy secured
  • Answer and make patient and prescriber calls
  • Make sure Home/Site Delivery patients receive medications in a timely manner
  • Communicate with the Chief Pharmacy Officer any issues within the pharmacy
  • Assist with training of pharmacy staff
  • Assist Chief Pharmacy Officer in other duties as assigned
