About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Pharmacist for their Inpatient Pharmacy team. This position offers an 8-on/6-off day shift schedule, with flexibility for either 10-hour shifts (1.0 FTE) or 8-hour shifts (0.8 FTE) based on candidate preference and department needs. The role involves reviewing prescriptions for accuracy and suitability, providing drug information and advice, and delivering pharmaceutical care in a medical center or institutional setting. The Pharmacist will interpret provider orders, assist in problem-solving, and perform duties such as unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, outpatient prescriptions, compounding, and working with automated dispensing devices. The role requires utilizing age-related patient information for various patient populations (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and adhering to all established pharmacy regulations and standards. The Pharmacist will also provide oversight and clinical supervision for pharmacy services and support personnel, potentially acting as a shift supervisor. Pharmacy services at Sanford Health encompass a wide range of specialties including acute care surgery, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, oncology, infusion services, intensive care, general medicine, dialysis, transplant, antimicrobial stewardship, and medication reconciliation. The position may involve both decentralized clinical functions (direct patient interaction, interdisciplinary team rounding, chart reviews, patient counseling, medication list collection) and centralized clinical functions (checking and dispensing medications, overseeing IV room operations). Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
Thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions
Knowledge of state and local regulations
License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position
Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to learn and utilize new technology as the profession of pharmacy evolves

Responsibilities

Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability
Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage
Review and interpret provider orders

Act as a shift supervisor under direct or indirect supervision by department managers (may be required)
Provide oversight and clinical supervision for pharmacy services and pharmacy support personnel
Be involved in acute care surgery, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, oncology, infusion services, intensive care, general medicine, dialysis, transplant, antimicrobial stewardship, and medication reconciliation
Perform decentralized clinical functions, such as direct patient interaction/interdisciplinary team rounding, chart reviews, customer or patient counseling, collecting accurate medication list
