About The Position

North Alabama Medical Center is hiring a PRN Pharmacist to coordinate and provide pharmaceutical care for patients. The Pharmacist collaborates with the interprofessional team to optimize safe and effective medication use, reviews and verifies medication orders, manages drug therapy protocols, educates staff and patients, and supports quality and regulatory standards. The role includes outpatient anticoagulation clinic responsibilities and participation in performance improvement and continuing education.

Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
• Current license with the state Board of Pharmacy.
• Critical thinking and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments.
• Ability to rapidly learn and navigate multiple pharmacy and clinical software systems.
• Effective English communication skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
• Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage drug therapy protocols as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Review, interpret, and evaluate medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve drug-related problems.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff, healthcare professionals, patients, and pharmacy students.
• Document interventions and outcomes for drug therapy quality improvement.
• Verify medication orders for accuracy and completeness before entry; check medications prepared by technicians; and maintain proficiency with pharmacy automated systems and software.
• Manage patients in an outpatient anticoagulation clinic, including point-of-care testing, result evaluation, dosing, and scheduling.
• Participate in performance improvement and required continuing education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
