About The Position

Ellis Medicine is seeking a Pharmacist who believes that collaboration, communication, and compassion are the foundations of outstanding service. This role involves serving the community and meeting health and wellness needs with excellence in a diverse and dynamic team environment. The Pharmacist will interpret medication orders, manage medication distribution for inpatient, outpatient, and employee needs, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of drugs and therapies. They will also provide training and supervision to non-professional pharmacy staff, offer drug information to hospital personnel, patients, and the community, and perform other pharmacy services as outlined in the Policy & Procedure Manual Guidelines. Compliance with all state and federal laws, hospital policies, and accrediting standards is essential. The role requires maintaining good standing with New York State Licensure, including continued education, and ensuring accurate, thorough work with attention to detail. The Pharmacist will also be responsible for the responsible utilization of company resources and maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant working environment. Collaboration with management to streamline processes, implement improvements, and resolve conflicts is also a key aspect of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy preferred
  • Licensed to practice in New York State or eligible to become licensed
  • Must be able to demonstrate a complete understanding and knowledge of New York State and Federal Laws governing the practice of pharmacy
  • New York State Licensure must be maintained in good standing, including all continued educational requirements
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills necessary to perform competently
  • Work must be accurate, thorough and attention to detail is evident

Responsibilities

  • Interpret all medication orders as safe and proper
  • Execute all phases of inpatient, outpatient and employee medication distribution, such as dispensing, packing and labeling
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of drugs and drug therapy
  • Provide training and supervision for non-professional Pharmacy staff
  • Provide drug information and training for various hospital personnel, patients and the community
  • Provide other Pharmacy services established in the Policy & Procedure Manual Guidelines
  • Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations, the policies and procedures of Ellis Medicine and the standards of affiliated accrediting organizations
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding and knowledge of New York State and Federal Laws governing the practice of pharmacy
  • Maintain New York State Licensure in good standing, including all continued educational requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills necessary to perform competently
  • Ensure work is accurate, thorough and attention to detail is evident
  • Assure that company resources are utilized responsibly and that the working environment is clean, safe and in compliance with required workplace standards
  • Communicate relevant departmental information to the nursing and medical staff as needed
  • Seek opportunities in collaboration with management to streamline processes, implement process improvement activities and resolve conflicts
