About The Position

Hopedale Medical Complex is seeking a knowledgeable and patient-focused PRN Retail Pharmacist to join our Retail Pharmacy team. Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current Illinois Pharmacist license or eligibility for Illinois licensure required.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacology, dosage calculations, medication safety, and pharmacy law.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and third-party insurance processes.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and compassion.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy management systems (RX30, CPSI, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret, verify, and accurately dispense prescription medications.
  • Evaluate prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosing, drug interactions, allergies, and therapeutic appropriateness.
  • Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, storage, and adherence.
  • Answer patient questions and provide recommendations for over-the-counter medications and minor illnesses.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure safe and efficient pharmacy operations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy and patient outcomes.
  • Ensure medications are accurately labeled, packaged, and dispensed according to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient medication records.
  • Monitor patient response to drug therapy and identify potential medication-related concerns.
  • Oversee medication ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory management.
  • Conduct routine inventory reviews and controlled substance audits.
  • Maintain compliance with Illinois pharmacy law, DEA regulations, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives and pharmacy process enhancements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
