About The Position

MercyOne is hiring a Pharmacist Intern to provide technical support in delivering pharmaceutical care to clients of Mercy Medical Center. Work includes preparing and delivering medications and sterile products, reviewing charts for specific information and audits, and stocking and ordering drugs and other products. The intern performs technical work and tasks permitted by Iowa law under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The schedule is described as rotating shift and per diem (PRN).

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current enrollment in a pharmacy school or program, or proof of verbal commitment to a pharmacy school or program.
• Must be registered as a pharmacy intern with the State of Iowa at the time of hire, or registered as a Technician in Training for up to 12 months until eligible to apply for intern status after starting pharmacy school or program. May also be registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician until intern status can be obtained.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or obtain it within three months of hire; the acceptable credentialing body is the American Heart Association.
• Proof of completion of mandatory reporter training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to clients of Mercy Medical Center.
• Prepare and deliver medications and sterile products.
• Review charts for specific information and audits.
• Stock and order drugs and other products.
• Perform technical work and tasks allowable by Iowa law for a Pharmacy Intern under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
