Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy
  • License in state of Iowa as a registered pharmacist
  • Continuing education in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Fill and verify medication orders/infusions
  • Monitor patient drug therapies
  • Counsel patients
  • Document interventions
  • Assist in maintaining pharmacy inventory
  • Provide drug information in compliance with all state and federal laws governing the practice of pharmacy including, standards of Joint Commission.
  • Interpret medication orders (verbal/electronic/written) and transcribe to patient medication profiles accurately.
  • Dispense medications accurately and timely.
  • Complete all competence assessment requirements.
  • Provide courteous and cooperative service to internal and external customers according to service excellence standards.
  • Document clinical interventions.
  • Complete daily/monthly medication area inspections.
  • Communicate with providers, insurance or financial department to help problem solve issues with the medication orders, formulary or finances.
  • Provide drug information when needed and clinical recommendations for medication orders
