About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role practices in the infusion pharmacy within the Joe Lueken Cancer Center in Bemidji. As part of the Joe Lueken Cancer Center team, you'll provide oncology and home infusion pharmacy services for our patients alongside experienced pharmacists and an outstanding team of pharmacy technicians. Our long-standing technician team brings deep expertise and supports a collaborative environment focused on serving our patients. Experience in oncology, home infusion, or sterile compounding is preferred, but we're committed to training the right candidate. After onboarding, pharmacists participate in a shared on-call rotation to support home infusion patients. This is an opportunity to build relationships with patients, expand your oncology pharmacy experience, and join a team that takes pride in the care we provide. A sign-on bonus is available. Typical shifts start between 7:30–8:30 a.m. and end between 4:00–5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions; knowledge of state and local regulations.
  • License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in oncology, home infusion, or sterile compounding is preferred.
  • Hospital experience or residency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
  • Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
  • Review, interpret and dispense both prescription and non-prescription medication to patients.
  • Take an active role in responding to prescription issues and advising providers on the selection, dosage, interaction and side effects of medications.
  • Counsel patients on the medication prescription including but not limited to: proper administration, possible side effects, expected response, storage and any other questions posed by the patient.
  • Monitor the health and progress of patients in response to drug therapy.
  • Learn and utilize new technology as the profession of pharmacy evolves.
  • Provide oversight and clinical supervision for pharmacy series and pharmacy support personnel.
  • Review and interpret provider orders, provides drug information, assists in problem solving, and provides other aspects of pharmaceutical care.
  • Utilize appropriate age-related patient information to assess the pharmaceutical needs of patients, which may include provision of pharmaceutical care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Follow all established regulations and standards that govern the practice of pharmacy.
  • May be required to act as a shift supervisor under direct or indirect supervision by department managers.
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
