About The Position

This position is a supervisory role responsible for the overall daily operation of the pharmacy department including but not limited to operational and clinical services. Such services include, but are not limited to, purchasing, preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical oversight and interaction with medical staff; appropriate / timely submission/reconciliation of drug claims.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • 3-5 years’ experience.
  • Massachusetts License
  • Training or equivalent experience in Medication Therapy Management (MTM)
  • Knowledge of FDA, BO,P and all applicable regulations
  • Knowledge of retail pharmacy compliance
  • Familiarity with adherence packaging and home delivery.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision making to achieve objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all staff members are performing their jobs effectively and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicating with health center physicians to determine the type of medications and dosage for a patient.
  • Taking inventory of pharmaceutical drugs to reorder them based on local demand.
  • Interacting with pharmacy patients/customers to give them their prescriptions and answer medication questions.
  • Controlling medications by monitoring drug therapies and advising interventions.
  • Complying with state and federal drug laws.
  • Maintaining separate 340B drug inventory as appropriate.
  • Maintain current registration.
  • Facilitating new business and overseeing timely and accurate delivery of services to clients.
  • Working collaboratively with administration and clinical care teams to provide quality care.
  • Ensuring that billing documents and inventory control records are completed and accurate.
  • Participating in continuing quality improvement activities.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with all standardized professional policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring adherence to State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintaining strict control over the distribution and usage of government-controlled products such as narcotics and barbiturates.
  • Ensuring appropriate record keeping for each prescription filled for pharmacy files, for control files on narcotics, poisons, habit-forming drugs, or for billing records.
  • Ensuring inventory control of pharmacy stock to an acceptable turnover to minimize the amount of expired medications.
  • Ensuring semiannual physical inventory processes are completed.
  • Overseeing the implementation and documentation of drug recalls through established policy and procedures, which are followed in a timely manner, including documentation, required detailing the disposition of such drugs.
  • Assisting with the development, use, analysis, and feedback of clinical performance measurement indicators, processes and audits.
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and participating in QA activities within the department.
  • Participating in the selection and hiring of pharmacy staff, including technicians.
  • Being responsible and accountable for operational budgets, ensuring that the operation of the department is within budget guidelines and providing an explanation of significant variances.
  • Participating in annual pharmacy budget projections.
  • Working in collaboration with pharmacy staff to increase their clinical effectiveness and counseling skills.
  • Participating in special projects and other duties as assigned.
