About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. As a pharmacist, I work under minimal supervision to assess, prepare, dispense, and assist in coordinating all day-to-day dispensing functions of the pharmacy in a timely and accurate manner. The pharmacist will use their knowledge, skills, and clinical judgment through reviewing orders to ensure safe and effective medication therapy. They will evaluate appropriateness of dose, route, and formulation, allergies, medication interactions, monitoring, etc. The pharmacist will have frequent communication with other healthcare professionals as a drug information resource and provide educational information to ensure great patient care. They will report adverse drug events and medication safety events. They will document interventions in the medical record. The pharmacist will work as a team member to efficiently and accurately perform day-to-day work, along with any additional tasks or projects to help achieve departmental goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy plus 1 year of experience working as a pharmacist (or pharmacy intern) in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Pharmacist license through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for AR licensure
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Work online as a pharmacist to fill prescriptions in the OPC Pharmacy, utilizing computerized filling software, ensuring complete accuracy in dispensing.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills with healthcare staff as well as patients to ensure good working relationships and counseling when appropriate.
  • Oversee the management duties of the technicians and students in the OPC retail setting.
  • Responsible for prioritizing the workload based on patient need and making sure that the technician(s) and student(s) perform work in the order that best accommodates the workload.
  • Show a willingness to complete all tasks at hand and to work as a team player alongside all other staff members to demonstrate the ability to complete work in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Direct oversight of technicians and acts as the IPPE student preceptor, actively providing training and education as appropriate or assigned.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
