About The Position

Pharmacists at Central Florida Health Care, Inc. will oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations, with a primary focus on the 340B Drug Pricing Program. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The pharmacist will manage daily operations, including interpreting prescription orders, packaging, labeling, dispensing, administering, and distributing medications and devices, as well as providing patient education and counseling as needed. Additionally, while on duty, the pharmacist will supervise staff, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, and enhance pharmacy services to elevate patient care. The Pharmacist will collaborate with site providers to improve patient outcomes and work closely with site leadership to implement and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures, streamline operations, and maintain high standards of patient safety and satisfaction. Reporting to a Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist will play a key role in expanding services for underserved populations, supporting the organization's mission to provide accessible and affordable healthcare. All duties must be carried out in accordance with Central Florida Health Care’s (CFHC) policies, procedures, Mission and Vision Statements, Overarching Goal, CFHC’s performance expectations, and all relevant Federal and State guidelines.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited institution
  • Active Pharmacist License in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy
  • Valid BLSC certification
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Proficient in the use of pharmacy management software, technology and equipment

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of experience in a pharmacy setting
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory position
  • Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to FQHCs
  • Experience in a healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with the 340B drug pricing program
  • Current immunization certification
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to protocols
  • Oversee inventory management, procurement, and medication distribution in alignment with 340B program requirements
  • Maximize the benefits of the 340B program to ensure cost savings for eligible patients
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including DEA regulations, state guidelines, and FQHC-specific requirements
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Keep the pharmacy neat and orderly
  • Ensure support staff understand and comply with CFHC’s Blood Born Pathogens Exposure Control Plan requirements
  • Review and verify prescriptions by fully utilizing pharmacy systems, ensuring accurate data entry, confirming correct medications, weighing and counting pills, and checking for potential interactions
  • Demonstrate and promote teamwork, contributing to and modeling a collaborative environment to meet service level expectations
  • Uphold pharmacy hours at assigned site
  • Remain on site on an on-call basis during lunch unless there is a second pharmacist on duty
  • Volunteer a minimum of two times annually for Saturday shifts
  • Maintain pharmacy workflow assigned by site pharmacy manager consisting of assigned roles, coordinating activities and schedules, prioritizing tasks, assigning special projects, preventing bottlenecks, ensuring operational efficiency, and handling opening and closing procedures
  • Train employees through new hire orientation, on-the-job training, cross-training, and answering questions
  • Promote a collaborative and supportive team environment aligned with organization values
  • Collaborate with the healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy management (MTM), chart review and other clinical services
  • Work with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies, suggest alternative medications, and answer provider questions
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient privacy, generic options, cost-effective alternatives, and over-the-counter products, referring them to a medical provider as needed to ensure proper medication use, address health concerns, and enhance satisfaction
  • Ensure access to affordable medications for eligible patients through effective 340B program utilization
  • Address patients' needs by minimizing wait times, notifying them of delays, recognizing patients by name, investigating issues, ordering special items, resolving problems, and assisting with specific items (e.g., blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring)
  • Resolve customer complaints and monitor the quality of customer service provided by employees
  • Comply with government laws and regulations, company policies, procedures, ethics, and code of conduct
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit all records, reports, and documentation required by state and federal laws (e.g., prescription copies, regulatory reports) as well as all necessary business documentation (e.g., operating statements, performance reports, supervision notes, deletions, transfers)
  • Conduct or participate in audits to ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards (e.g., supervision, state inspections, insurance reviews, controlled substance audits, peer reviews), including reviewing prescription files, narcotics invoices, inventories, legal documentation, licenses, etc.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Stay current in the fields of pharmacy and healthcare by reading industry journals, company publications, completing required company training modules, continuing education, researching new drugs, and attending company meetings as needed
  • Monitor and report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and other quality indicators
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services
  • Performs other duties as assigned
