About The Position

The Emergency Department Clinical Focus Pharmacist provides direct pharmaceutical care in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency medicine environment within a Level I Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. This role collaborates closely with physicians, medical residents, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support optimal medication therapy outcomes for emergency and critically ill patients across adult and pediatric populations. Key responsibilities include prospective patient profile review, medication order verification, participation in trauma and emergency response activities, medication therapy recommendations, antimicrobial stewardship, and support of safe and efficient medication use practices within the Emergency Department. The pharmacist serves as an active clinical resource for providers and nursing staff while promoting evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuity of care. This position also plays an important role in education and professional development through precepting and mentoring PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents as well as pharmacy students. The pharmacist is expected to collaborate effectively with medical residents and contribute to an interdisciplinary learning environment within academic and clinical practice settings. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions.
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations.
  • License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.

  • Hospital experience or residency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
