Our Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is committed to providing the highest quality clinical pharmaceutical care to children, integrating research findings into clinical practice as swiftly as possible. This role coordinates and facilitates the requisitioning and procurement of all pharmaceutical products obtained by the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. It ensures that all purchase orders between the department and selected vendors are compliant with all institutional and departmental policies. The position supports the activities of the Inventory Management Team and ensures a continuum of customer service is provided to all hospital departments and external vendors. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory management systems, setting appropriate par levels and reorder points for products in the Pharmaceutical Inventory Resource Center, and adding/updating inventory system records and content according to current purchasing patterns. It also coordinates with the department on identifying, removing, and quarantining any recalled items throughout the hospital and utilizes appropriate partner systems to identify recalled items that have been purchased. The Pharmaceutical Buyer processes and creates purchase orders according to vendor requirements (e.g., EDI, online, fax), resolves order and invoice discrepancies by coordinating with vendors, and partners with inventory administrative support personnel to track and maintain records of purchase orders and related documents. The role involves selecting product alternatives when primary source products are not available, communicating with appropriate Pharmacy groups and leaders to manage drug shortage and supply chain issues, and completing routine department-level ServiceNow tasks according to a provided schedule. The position supports the Inventory Management Team to increase the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department, actively engages in problem-solving and group discussions with staff, and supplies input to Inventory Leadership on current issues and resolutions. It works in collaboration with the 340B team to ensure purchasing compliance and updates appropriate shared documents to track purchasing on 340B accounts. The role requires staying current on regulatory updates that affect the purchase and tracking of pharmaceutical items and participating in the support and utilization of DSCSA software to ensure supply chain integrity and compliance. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
