About The Position

The Fill and Dispense Technician ensures fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions by maintaining drug inventory, preparing, labeling, and packaging of medications for review by a pharmacist. Is responsible for inventory and fulfillment functions to meet customer demands in compliance with Board of Pharmacy, Federal and DEA, Accreditation, and other applicable regulatory agencies.

Requirements

An active TN pharmacy technician license in good standing or obtained within 90 days of hire
Ability to manage time to meet daily deadlines

Excellent telephone skills and ability to interact professionally with customers, staff and providers
Ability to critically analyze situation and identify possible solutions independently
Skills in basic computer usage

Nice To Haves

Pharmacy Technician Certification by an accredited body active and in good standing
Experience in a high paced retail pharmacy

Responsibilities

Maintains pharmacy inventory through supply and demand projections, placing and expediting orders, and verifying order receipts
Monthly quarantine and return of outdated or damaged medications
Perform monthly and assist in annual inventories
Triage and fill prescriptions, utilizing bar code scan, correct quantity, correct patient and verifying proper labels
Use inter-team communication to relay medication availability issues or delays
Process, file and maintain all fill and dispense records
Order and sustain adequate departmental supplies
Maintains clean work area
Utilizes proper PPE when handling/dispensing hazardous drugs
Participate in Clinical Oversight and Quality Improvement meetings and ongoing projects as needed
Answers phones and provide friendly, professional customer service
Performs other tasks as assigned by management
