About The Position

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts. The Mount Rogers Health District is seeking a dedicated Wage Public Health Physician Specialist to support our mission of improving community health across the region. This role will be providing direct patient care across the 8 offices. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical expertise and a commitment to advancing high quality, evidence-based public health practice. Candidates must hold an active license from the Virginia Board of Medicine and demonstrate excellence in clinical judgment, communication, and leadership. Requirements

• Active license from the Virginia Board of Medicine
• Knowledge of adult, adolescent, and/or pediatric medicine.
• Skill in medical management of adults and pediatric/adolescent patients and their families.
• Ability to communicate with patients, families and staff.
• Ability to educate and train students and staff regarding patient care.
• Ability to utilize resources appropriately and make referrals as needed.
• Skill in coordinating a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Completion of an approved residency program in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics or obstetrics/gynecology.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in field of specialization.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct patient case across the 8 offices.
