PGY2 Pharmacy Resident
About The Position
The pharmacist provides quality pharmaceutical care by monitoring patients’ medication therapy and assisting in developing a clinical pharmacy program. They will also recommend appropriate drug therapy and serve as an educational resource to patients and other health care professionals. The pharmacist also utilizes a computer system to enter orders, dispense medications and intravenous solutions to patients’ in an accurate and timely manner and supervises technical employees. The pharmacist checks all technical work before doses are dispensed. The emergency medicine pharmacy resident provides pharmacy services during acute events including but not limited to Code – 99, Code – 99P, and Code – 88 events.
Requirements
- Graduate from an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.
- Must be a citizen of the U.S.A., or hold a visa allowing for the completion of the residency year.
- Must have successfully completed an ASHP-regulated PGY1.
- Health system experience required.
- Must be licensed to work as a registered pharmacist in the State of Alabama no later than ninety days after the start of the residency year.
- Must adhere to the rules of the resident matching program (RMP) process.
- Utilize the PhORCAS system for the application process.
- ACLS and PALS certifications required within 90 days of employment.
