About The Position
WECTEC Staffing Services is seeking a PGD Engineer – Solar Inverter on behalf of their client. This is a 1-year contract assignment, a W-2 position. The Power Generation Division is looking for an engineer who will apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to solar power generation. This role requires the ability to make independent decisions regarding engineering issues and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- Bachelor's Degree in other engineering discipline with equivalent experience with electrical systems
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Utility-scale inverter and power electronics experience
- Ability to work with operations teams
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in electrical engineering
- 2 years of experience with solar inverters
- Previous experience in operations support or control center environments
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine troubleshooting guides for top fault codes across all inverter technologies
- Build and maintain fault code database and Do Not Reset (DNR) lists
- Use AI to create troubleshooting guides and apply engineering principles to datasets to synthesize information
- Act as the primary technical liaison between Solar Inverter Fleet Team, ROCC, and CWE, acting independently on technical matters
- Complete process improvement assignments with broad terms, general goals, and limitations
- Work with individuals and OEMs within and outside the organization with responsibility regarding technical matters pertaining to individual projects
- Support component failure rate analysis and development of work plans
- Become a subject matter expert in at least one inverter manufacturer
- Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures at solar sites
- Assist field technicians and ROCC operators with troubleshooting inverter and other solar issues
- Help develop countermeasures for recurring issues
- Support responses to regulatory bodies for data requests
