This position reports to the Patient Financial Services Supervisor. The Patient Financial Services Specialist is responsible for the support functions necessary to accomplishing the objective of the department. These include, but are not limited to, functions under the categories of patient accounting, insurance and patient follow up, variance reconciliation, coordination of benefits, reimbursement verification, and appealing denials. The Patient Financial Services Specialist must maintain the utmost level of confidentiality at all times, adhere to hospital policies and procedures, and demonstrate business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines. This role requires a proven track record in managing and improving accounts receivable, the ability to apply a common-sense approach to problem-solving, and a demonstrated multi-task orientation. Additionally, the specialist must demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply complex governmental regulations in regard to Medicare and Medicaid to the revenue cycle, and work directly with patient families to resolve billing and service issues.
