About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to join their Caleb Brett team in Corpus Christi. This role involves performing measurement testing of clients' commodities and cargo, reporting results, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures. The position requires reporting to the branch office for work assignments within 30 minutes of notification. Intertek Caleb Brett specializes in cargo inspection and analytical assessment services for the oil and gas and chemical markets, operating with a global network and a commitment to Total Quality Assurance.

Requirements

  • Ability to work varying shifts, hours, and on-call basis.
  • Cannot have a fear of heights.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks.
  • Experience with verifying and communicating results obtained and making entries into the appropriate media.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

  • Be aware of and adhere to safety practices and policies.
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload with efficient time management.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate.
  • Physical requirements include lifting, walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, squatting, and driving.
  • Successful candidate is required to report to the branch office for work assignment, within 30 minutes of being notified to report.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Volume measurement, temperature measurement and sampling of commodity materials contained or conveyed in lines, shore tanks, cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships.
  • Experience with Visual inspections on lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships.
  • Experience with Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, barges, and ships.
  • Experience with Performing routine equipment calibrations, verification, and function checks.
  • IFIA certified is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to Caleb Brett safety procedures.
  • Perform volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials in various containers (lines, shore tanks, cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships).
  • Conduct visual inspections on lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships.
  • Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, barges, and ships.
  • Perform routine equipment calibrations, verification, and function checks.
  • Verify and communicate obtained results, making entries into the appropriate media (print or electronic).
  • Provide on-the-job assistance and receive training from more experienced inspectors.
  • Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and Company personnel to ensure smooth execution of duties.
  • Monitor the availability of necessary supplies and report needs to the Dispatcher or Coordinator.
  • Organize and coordinate jobs to ensure timely service delivery and submission of reports and samples.
  • Maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
