About The Position

The Petroleum Construction Installer Level 2, also known as a Construction Mechanic, performs various tasks requiring physical labor on construction sites, primarily assisting craft workers or electricians. This role involves carrying tools and materials, setting up equipment, and executing a wide range of tasks from simple to complex and potentially hazardous. The position requires the ability to work in all weather conditions, travel up to 50-60% of the time, and work after-hours. The company emphasizes presenting a professional image and maintaining personal appearance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and be able to safely operate a construction truck and tow small trailers.
  • No DUI's within the past 5 years.
  • Ability to read a blueprint.
  • Basic math and mechanical skills.
  • Experience with HVAC, pipefitting, petroleum construction, or related field.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and MVR if driving for the company.
  • Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and standing 8-10 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate small machinery, such as a skid steer loader or backhoe.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a team leader under the Foreman’s supervision to undertake specific phases of work and direct others.
  • Spot and direct heavy equipment operators (track hoe and loaders) from the ground during excavation.
  • Operate small machinery such as a skid steer loader or backhoe (a plus).
  • Cut and thread steel pipe and assist in fitting and installation on underground and above-ground tanks.
  • Assist the foreman with shooting grades and simple paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site as directed by the foreman.
  • Ensure a safe job site by placing signs, safety barricades, and wearing proper personal protective equipment.
  • Keep tools organized, clean, and stored properly on the truck or job trailer.
  • Maintain job inventory as directed by the foreman.
  • Communicate and plan ahead to avoid problems.
  • Present the Company image and maintain personal appearance.
  • Work after-hours as needed.
  • Work in all weather conditions, as a significant portion of the work is outdoors.
  • Travel up to 50-60% of the time.
