About The Position

The Petro Pool Supervisor at the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, under the direction of the Aquatic Director, will assist with the responsibility for all components of the Petro Pool while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. The Petro Pool Supervisor will assist with the operation of the facility, coach staff, and manage administrative duties and record-keeping. The Community Pool is open from June 22nd to August 16th. Hours are Monday through Friday 9:00am-6:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm (hours are subject to change with extra programming). A regular schedule will be provided. This position requires responsibilities prior to the opening of the pool (2 weeks in advance) to ready the facility for the season.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Requires completion and maintaining certification as Lifeguard and AFO
  • Strong communication and human relations skills in dealing with staff and members are essential. This position requires decision-making skills, as it relates to aquatic safety and the efficient operation of the aquatic area.
  • Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Possess and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the highest aquatic standards are constantly maintained.
  • Assumes a lead role during shift and directly carries out leadership responsibilities to effectively oversee, train, guide, and evaluate staff (attendance, rotations, safety rule enforcement, etc.)
  • Serves as a role model and resource for staff and maintains professional communication and behavior at all times.
  • Proficient in all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with the Director about any concerns regarding safety, staff, or the public.
  • Engages in positive public relations with patrons and models for other staff.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections of aquatic facilities and environment.
  • Ensures clear, concise and consistent information is communicated to staff and the public.
  • Assumes responsibility for the physical upkeep of the aquatic facility and environment.
  • Documents and notifies Director of incidents/accidents, member questions/concerns, damaged equipment, supply needs, etc.
  • Maintains certifications listed under Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations.
  • Receives and carries out instructions.
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times; wear clothing that meets the YMCA dress code.
  • Other duties as assigned.
