About The Position

The Cardiac and Vascular Institute of Gainesville, FL seeks to be the provider of choice for cardiovascular care to the people of North Central Florida by combining state of the art comprehensive cardiac services and care with innovative technology. We are seeking a PET/SPECT NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGIST in the Nuclear Services department of our practice. TCAVI offers a sign on bonus in one lump sum in the amount of $5,000 at time of first full paycheck with an agreement that if the employee resigns within 18 months of employment, the pro-rated amount of the bonus will be returned to TCAVI.

Requirements

Current State of Florida license.
Registered or Registry eligible - ARRT(N) or NMTCB-CNMT
BLS and ACLS
Graduate of an AMA approved school for Nuclear Medicine Technology.
One-year experience preferred
Knowledge of nuclear cardiology principles and procedures.
Knowledge of quality care standards for nuclear cardiology procedures.
Knowledge of radiation safety, OHSA Universal Protocols, and blood borne pathogen exposure protocols.
Knowledge of operating PC and accessing applicable programs.
Skilled in obtaining high quality diagnostic studies that meet physician expectations.
Skill in data entry and obtaining information via computer.
Skilled in operating SPECT, PET imaging and treadmill equipment.
Skilled in use of life-saving defibrillator equipment.
Ability to recognize and respond to various EKG rhythms.
Ability to effectively care for patients and families across all points of the age continuum including physiological care, psychosocial care, education, safety and appropriate criteria.
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Perform PET and SPECT procedures, including administering contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals.
Provide professional and compassionate patient care, while ensuring patient safety, comfort and confidentiality.
Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of current nuclear license requirements, laboratory policies and procedures.
Follows Radiation Safety Standards established by the NRC, State of Florida and TCAVI.
Operates SPECT and PET imaging equipment and associated computer systems to obtain quality diagnostic images.
Prepares and injects radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures.
Performs daily and weekly quality control checks on SPECT and PET imaging equipment and hot lab equipment and records results accurately.
Informs the Lead Technologist and/or Nuclear Lab Manager of any discrepancies.
Performs correct procedure for delivery, acceptance, administration, disposal and shipment of radiopharmaceuticals.
Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of stress testing protocols and EKG interpretation.
Prepares patient procedure paperwork prior to SPECT and PET testing and ensures proper order, diagnosis, and all documentation is obtained prior to exam.
Performs patient assessment, preparation and procedures according to established nuclear lab written protocols.
Cleans, disinfect and maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials.
Maintains equipment by properly cleaning and performing scheduled quality control checks and brings to the attention of the Manager any discrepancies.
